  • Iontophoresis Is An Effective Treatment For Excessive Sweating Disorders  By : Ian Phorly
If you are dealing with the uncomfortable symptoms of excessive sweating of hands (palmar) or feet (plantar), known also as hyperhidrosis, then you may be interested in an excessive sweating treatment known as iontophoresis. Use of the treatment has grown as more people dealing with the embarrassing effects of hypherhidrosis are looking for different treatment options. This is especially true when more established treatments like prescription strength antiperspirants do not produce the desired level of relief.

The process of iontophoresis works by using water to conduct a low electric current through the surface of the skin. It remains largely a mystery why iontophoresis functions as an excessive sweating treatment, but physicians suggest that the trace minerals found in the water and the electrical charge act together to cause a microscopic thickening of the outer skin tissue. By thickening the skin, the flow of sweat to the surface is impeded. When this process is impeded, sweat production to feet and palm may completed halted.

During the process of iontophoresis, electricity is applied to the patient's hands, feet, or both, when they are immersed in shallow trays. Patients are required to stay in the water between 20 and 40 minutes while current runs through the water. When using iontophoresis, it should be understood that treatment may continue for some time until sweating is reduced to acceptable levels. Afterwards, the patient must continue treatments periodically to maintain the level of dryness desired.

There are cases where the content of the water can hinder the iontophoresis process from achieving the proper results. For instance, water lacking the right levels of minerals, electrolytes, soft water, even the geographic location of water can cause lower results. Doctors may add elements to the water to make iontophoresis treatments work better. Such materials may include baking soda or prescription drugs like anticholinergics.

There are certain people who should not use iontophoresis as an excessive sweating treatment. Those affected by this restriction include people with metal body implants, pacemakers, heart conditions, epilepsy, as well as women who are pregnant. Also, metal jewelry should be removed before undergoing iontophoresis.

People considering the use of iontophoresis as a hyperhidrosis treatment often have concerns about the chance of shock as well as skin irritations associated with the procedure. While understandable, these concerns are not warranted. With excessive dryness or irritation of the skin, most of the time a basic moisturizer will do the trick. You doctor may even suggest the use of Vaseline or other barrier to protect more sensitive places. Worries about electric shock should be lessened by the fact that the current used in iontophoresis is very low.

If want to use iontophoresis effectively, you should consult your dermatologist to get all the information you can about the procedure. You should find out if iontophoresis is the best excessive sweating treatment for your situation.
  • Help Our Earth and Put in a Homemade Solar Cell  By : Ralph Somers A
Topping the list of the global community's concerns is the climate change being documented by researchers and the need to reduce carbon emissions. As world leaders negotiate to come up with a plan to halt climate change and cut down on emissions, we can also play our part. How? Put in a homemade solar cell and not only get free energy but do something good for the environment while you're at it. If you do install a homemade solar cell, use a kit that is made by a certified professional. If you are using an uncertified kit, that is very dangerous. Start your research here by reading our homemade solar cell diy review.

By consuming less energy at home, the workplace, and in our automobiles, we can make a noticable impact on emissions. This can be accomplished by putting in a homemade solar cell. It's not as intimidating as it sounds. Besides that, you are going to save money as well. If everyone makes an effort in their lives, it can make a huge difference on a global scale. Here is some advice on how you can cut down on your energy usage.
    In the home
    * Switch to energy-saving light bulbs. While you're at it, put in a homemade solar cell. It is so much easier than you would think. Depending on many factors they may be a little more expensive but over the long haul they will save you about 10 times their cost.
    * If you are heating or boiling anything, just boil what you plan on using. Boil just enough water for the amount of tea you plan to consume. After all, is it necessary to boil a pot for one cup.
    * Switch off appliances when you are not using them to save money and energy. Turn off your computersm stereos, videos, and TVs when you aren't using them. They consume a lot of energy even when in standby mode.
    * If it's recyclable, recycle it. We throw away our own weight in rubbish every month, but bottles, cans, paper, card, plastic and aluminium can all be reused or recycled which saves energy. For example, it takes the same amount of energy to make 20 cans from recycled material as it takes to make one can from scratch. If you recycle enough, your monthly garbage bill will go down if you reduce the service needed.
    * If you live in a sunny area you could potentially meet all your energy means using solar panels.
    * Turning down your thermostat by just three degrees will save you 10 per cent in energy costs. Additionally, ensure that your house has enough insulation to keep as much heat in as possible.
    * Make sure your dishwasher and washing machine appliances are full before you start them. You can also try warm water instead.
    * When you cook, place lids on your pots and pans.
    In the office
    * Where at all possible, store all documents in digital format on your computer or another storage device. If you must print something, use both sides of the page.
    * There is no need to fly half way around the world for a meeting. Online audio and video conferencing has effectively cut out the need for face to face meetings and conferences. Potentially you can save a significant amount of energy here.
    * Completely power off your computer or put it in sleep mode when it is not in use. Computers still use a lot of energy when they are on screensaver mode.
    In the car
    * For shorter journeys, leave the car at home and use a bike instead. Bikes are a healthy, quick and enjoyable way to get around, and a great way to avoid congestion if you live in a big city.
    * Experiment with car pooling to get to and from work. It will save you money and could get you to work faster.
    * Join the hybrid revolution. Ask yourself if you really need your polluting sports utility vehicle. If not, trade it in for a hybrid? Purchasing a hybrid is a great way to reduce your carbon imprint as you can travel the same distance on half the gasoline.
    * Use the bus. Public transportation uses less energy than driving. Also, remember that air travel is a major polluter so use ground transport wherever possible.
    In the shops
    * Do not accept plastic bags from shops. Always bring your own reusable bags.
    * Try to get locally grown organic food. Organically grown food typically takes less energy to produce and is farmed sustainably. In addition, the fact that it is grown locally means a reduction in transport costs.
    * Consume less meat. One of the biggest contributors to the greenhouse gases accumulating in the atmosphere is surprisingly farm livestock.
    Water
While water isn't strictly energy, it is a finite resource that we need to preserve and take care of. Here are some tips on how to cut down on your water usage:
    * Always use the shower instead of the bath.
    * Never let water just run from the tap while you brush your teeth.
    * Make sure you have a full load before using the washing machine or dishwasher.
*Put in a system to reuse your water run-off and prevent water waste in your garden. This will also encourage you to use non-harmful soaps and washing powders.
    * Water your garden when the sun is not at its peak like before sunrise or at sunset. This gives the water a chance to get absorbed into the soil rather than just evaporating into the heat if you do water during the day.
    * Water butts or large water containers are a good idea for the garden. Situate them under the edges of your roof so they receive run-off when it rains.
This is just a few examples of easy yet powerful methods for reducing your energy consumption and carbon footprint. We don't even have to do all this things to make a significant impact on the environment and our wallets.

People cannot listen until they are heard. They need to get whatever is bothering them off there chest. To get what you want, you first have to see to it the other person gets what they want. Allow other people to speak about there wants and needs, hopes and dreams, fears and concerns, hurt and pains.

A heart talk is communication that is structured and follow and eight step process. It is a powerful tool designed to release any emotions that would otherwise be kept bottled up. It is used in the business, home, classroom, religious settings and sports teams.

Conducting a heart talk. It can be conducted with any size group between 2 and 10 people. Explain that there is value using a structured talk that guarantees a deeper level of listening. • Is A Tabletop Fountain A Good Choice  By : Shirley Christianson
Picking the perfect tabletop fountain can be a difficult thing to do. The number of choices alone can be daunting when you consider the thousands of designs, sizes, and colors of water fountains you can buy today. For you though, there are fewer options than before because you've narrowed your search down to one model: the tabletop fountain. It may be for you personally, or the fountain may be a gift for someone else. There are countless motives you could have for purchasing a tabletop fountain.

You should be able to find a tabletop fountain at a very reasonable price--a boon for the cost conscious. With tabletop fountains, you will certainly find any manner of classy or fanciful design to invigorate your home's design. It may be that a tabletop fountain is just the remedy you've been looking for to treat specific health concerns; then again, it could be the perfect method to relax and let the stress melt away to the soothing sounds of the water.

The tabletop fountain is also a good choice when you're not sure where you want a fountain. The mobility of these smaller fountains makes them ideal for the workplace because they can take very little place in lobbies or reception area, spreading their soothing sounds to those waiting. A tabletop fountain can be placed in the dining room or living room of your home for both you and guests to enjoy. No matter the occasion, a tabletop fountain offers a pleasant environment.

Another benefit of the tabletop fountain is its price tag, which makes it an inexpensive way to add a little pizzazz to your home at a fraction of the cost. It is understandable why tabletop fountains seem to be a great way to go.

If you are sure you want to buy a tabletop fountain, then you may wish to start looking around online to compile a list of what kind you want. There is no shortage of specialty sites on the web that sell fixtures like fountains at great reduced prices.

It shouldn't matter what your preferences or tastes are since there is a tabletop fountain for everybody. You might choose nature bowls that mimic the sound of gentle streams or modern designs filled with vibrant colors or geometric patterns. It's hard not to imagine at the possibilities and welcoming a beautiful fountain that will warm your room with pleasant sounds.

Tabletop fountains like other fountains have had a long relationship with Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese art that blends design with health and wellness. Some retailers separate those tabletop fountains that seem to represent Feng Shui from those that do not. This distinction is meaningless when you understand that any fountain will provide good chi flow by virtue of the water that flows through it.

If you want to experience a tabletop fountain, get out there and check one out. See if the reports are true. Be prepared to enjoy the pleasures of these small but effective fixtures.
  • The Bamboo Fountain: What Is It And Can You Build It  By : Bambi Johnson
A bamboo fountain can be a great way to add mystical accent to your garden. This unique fountain hails from Japan where it was created by rice farmers as a way to scare deer away from the rice paddies. It isn't difficult to understand that they were called "deer chasers".

In the past, monks would use the bamboo fountain as a method for measuring the length of their mediations. In a time when more people are concerned about their impact on the environment, the bamboo fountain is an environmentally friendly material option. This fact does not detract from the fountain's clear aesthetic charm. The bamboo fountain is a flexible model so they can be used both indoors and outdoors.

If you want to build your own bamboo fountain, all you need are few simple pieces. The parts for the fountains include bamboo, pipe, pump, base, screws, rod, and a container. If you are constructing an outdoor bamboo fountain, it is wise to use a quality bamboo that will not crack under variable weather conditions. When the bamboo fountain will be used inside, you may want to make it more attractive by polishing the surface. You will also need a screwdriver, wood saw, and a drill to make your bamboo fountain.

The first step after you have all the components for your bamboo fountain is to cut the bamboo sticks to required lengths. There will be three bamboo sticks in the construction. One piece of bamboo will be used to hold the nozzle while the others will hold the moving part of the bamboo fountain. The part that moves is responsible for collecting water and emptying it once the weight of the collected water rises. Use a drill to put holes in the center of the bamboo sticks and the moving part. The holes are necessary because a rod will be inserted through the holes so the fountain will rock back and forth.

For the second phase of construction, you will take a tube and connect it from the pump up through the bamboo. The pipe will be capped by a nozzle made of bamboo. Now that this is all done, you can mount the fountain to a base. Your bamboo fountain is properly constructed when water coming out of the nozzle falls inside the part of the fountain in motion.

If you're kind of person who would rather someone else did it, then you may prefer purchasing a bamboo fountain kit from your building supply store.

If you do get a bamboo fountain, you might like to know how to maintain one. Maintenance focuses on two areas. The first area is water pump care. You need to have the water pump below the surface of your retaining pool when running. It must be cleaned on a regular basis. You must replace the water in your fountain on a regular schedule. While you won't have to change the water on a bamboo fountain that constantly operates, you still need to schedule a time so you're not dealing with stinky water.
  • Water Fountains Are Good Medicine  By : Wilson Gumphrey
Since the times of ancient Rome, water fountains have been used to symbolize wealth and prosperity. Even the ancient Chinese, the wizened masters who created the art of feng shui, understood the benefits of flowing water near the home or working area. People gather around water fountains in town squares and they recognize them as landmarks.

Even science has pointed out that the sound of running water stimulates calming thoughts and a sense of well being. With indoor water fountains you have a means to increase the humidity inside to eliminate dry air. On the other hand, outdoor water fountains have become artistic focuses for cities and gardens. It is interesting to know that both indoor and outdoor water fountains are not only great to look at, but they also promote some very therapeutic health benefits.

Of course, you're probably interested in knowing how water fountains can be therapeutic. You should take the time to examine this question carefully. You may wish to look at some of the benefits mentioned below if you've been thinking about installing water fountains in or around your home.

Essentially, indoor water fountains can function just like an air purifier or humidifier. The fountain purifies the air because it is a moving source of water. The motion of the water produces negative ions that flow out into the air. When these ions contact dust particles and smoke, they cling to them and are pulled to the ground, leaving the air purer and healthier.

As scientists have spent time investigating negative ions, they have uncovered effects on the brain chemistry that generate a sense of peace and increase alertness. It is these qualities of water fountains that were first discovered and used in the ancient art of placement known as feng shui. This means that for thousands of years before science made its so-called discoveries about water fountains, the masters of feng shui were benefiting from the therapeutic effects of running water.

Even the sound running water itself can promote relaxation. Once you have indoor water fountains running inside your house, you may start feeling changes in your mood quickly. There are many CDs and tapes that include the sounds of flowing water among other things to produce positive emotional effects.

Outdoor fountains, like those larger ones found in backyard gardens, often give birds and other creatures a fresh source of water. This isn't to downplay their obvious aesthetic values. When you have a well-designed fountain, you have a piece that attracts visitors and provides a focal point for your garden. Outdoor water fountains also produce the same negative ions that add to that rejuvenating feeling that permeates such gardens.

Once you have really looked at the evidence, there is reason to believe that water fountains can be great source for therapeutic and health benefits. Water fountains also add beauty to your home design or garden. Since water fountains can be an asset, you may want to consider getting one yourself to decorate the home or garden. Water fountains are a verifiable way to improve one's health and well-being.
  • Buying BMX Frames- A Guide  By : Andrew Sutton
If you are buying a BMX frame, you will first need to make a number of considerations. This is because there are a number of things which determine which type of BMX frame you should buy.

Firstly, it is important to know that the price of the BMX frame is mostly determined by its weight and strength. If you pay more for your frame, it will be lighter and stronger than if you elect to buy a cheaper one. Buying a less expensive frame may obviously be a good idea if you do not intend to ride the BMX regularly. If you do intend to ride it regularly, however, it may be worth taking the plunge and buying a lighter, stronger, more expensive frame. Much is, of course, dependent on how much you can afford to spend on the frame.

In terms of what the frame is made from, there are three materials which are commonly used to make BMX frames. The most common of these is chrome moly (an alloy made from cromium and molybednum). This is popular amongst experienced riders due to its lightness and strength.

However for this reason, chrome moly frames are expensive. Therefore, younger or less experienced riders may choose to buy a steel frame. Whilst these lack the lightness and strengh of chrome moly frames, they are less costly, and are still a suitable choice for new riders.

BMX frames are also sometimes made from aluminium. However, these tend to be specialised BMX race bikes. Aluminium provides extra strengh at the joints of the frame, which is useful due to the extra stress on these areas that racing provides. However, it is not recommended that you purchase an aluminium BMX frame unless you intend to use it primarily for racing. It would be better advised to purchase a BMX frame made from one of the other materials.

You will find that there is some variation between the sizes of frame available. Sizes are as follows: a 'micro mini' BMX frame is designed for someone aged 5 or under a 'mini' BMX frame is designed for someone aged 5-7, a 'junior' BMX frame is designed for someone aged 8-10, an 'expert' BMX frame is designed for someone aged 10-13, and a 'pro' BMX frame is designed for someone aged 13 and above. Variations on these sizes (XL, XXL) take into account the height and weight of the rider.

When making the decision as to what size BMX frame to buy, whilst it is worth using the size guide mentioned above, much of what size BMX frame to buy should be determined by your own preference. Choosing a size that you are comfortable with etc is the most important factor in deciding what BMX frame to buy. Also, the size of the BMX frame will have some determination over the size of tyres etc, so this is worth remembering.

  • Carrier Oils: Your Skin's Best Ally  By : Norah Charles
The word aromatherapy instantly draws up a long list of delicious and delightful scents: rose, lime, lavender, tea tree, frankincense, mandarin! Volatile oils are the alluring, and certainly the most memorable, aspect of aroma medicine. Following on the coattails of this exotic repertoire of essential oils, however, is a group of oils frequently referred to as "carrier oils." This category includes any plant-derived oil that primarily functions as a base oil for containing, delivering and enhancing an essential oil. While essential oils are short-chain molecules that quickly dissolve when exposed to air (thus the term "volatile oils," meaning quick to change), carrier oils are longer-chain molecules that do not break down as rapidly and hold their shape and qualities longer.

It's helpful to think of the relationship between carrier and essential oils as a dynamic that brings out the best in both oils. While most people consider carrier oils mediums for massage and reflexology applications only, carrier oils have healing qualities that essential oils do not possess. Rather than consider carrier oils a lowly delivery system for those stimulating volatile oils we all adore, let's take a moment to consider the merits of carrier oils alone. You may never look at evening primrose oil the same way again. You may also find that your aromatherapy experience is blessed by new ways of combining oils you already trust with carriers that magnify their healing potential.

Fats, or lipids, are a critical aspect of human health. They are important for staying warm, protecting organs and assisting cellular activity. While nutritionists are focused on finding how fats are used internally, aromatherapy examines how plant oils improve health from the outside. What we've found is that fats, or oils, applied externally also deliver essential nutrients to the skin.

Fat molecules are composed of hydrogen, oxygen and carbon atoms. It's easy to become immediately confused when chemistry comes into the mix, but because so many of these fat buzz words are found in natural health and nutrition, it's useful to understand where the aromatherapy carrier oils fall in the spectrum of lipids. A basic explanation of fat composition is that while all fats contain carbon atoms, some fats have carbon atoms that are double bonded to one another, meaning they share electrons. These fats are called unsaturated fats, they are liquid at room temperature, and they are derived from vegetables. Most carrier oils are unsaturated fats. Saturated fats have carbon bonds that do not bind to other carbon atoms. These oils are solid at room temperature and include animal-derived fats and some plant-derived fats as well. Coconut oil is a saturated fat that is often used as a carrier oil. Fractionated coconut, another common carrier oil, occurs when a coconut molecule has been altered to keep it in a liquid, rather than solid, state. The healing qualities of the oil are not compromised, and we can use the oil the same way we'd use a seed or nut oil.

Many carrier oils have the essential fatty acids omega-6 (linoleic acid) and omega-3 (linolenic). Essential fatty acids must be acquired through outside sources, primarily through diet, and are critical to maintaining health. According to aromatherapist Salvatore Battaglia, omega-6, which is important for skin, hair, liver function, joints, healing wounds and circulation, is especially powerful in evening primrose oil, a popular and versatile carrier oil. Omega-3 is also in many carrier oils. Taken internally, it helps with vision, muscles and growth. It is found in fish and some vegetable oils, like linseed and canola. It is know to help circulation, assist in heart health, lower cholesterol and blood pressure and prevent inflammation. The most important thing to remember about lipid structure in carrier oils is that choosing high-quality, nutritious oils will greatly assist the skin in its vital functions. Since the skin is the largest organ in the body and often needs assistance in maintaining its elasticity, vitality and moisture, carrier oils are truly the skin's best friend.

Carrier oils are primarily derived from nuts and seeds. They are extracted via cold-pressed technology, meaning high heat is not used. Once oils reach temperatures exceeding 160 degrees Celsius, their structure is altered, making them trans-fats, a kind of mutated fat that the body cannot assimilate properly. Expeller-pressing is another common extraction method. By placing seeds or nuts in an expeller, the precious oil is pressed out and then bottled. Superior carrier oils are mechanically pressed oils and have not been subjected to chemical changes.

Many carrier oils can be used in multiple applications, and consumers often choose oils based on the thickness or scent they prefer. Individual carrier oils do have some specific qualities though that can be used to your benefit. The main carrier oils can be divided into three general groups, reflecting their common aromatherapy applications. Sweet almond, sunflower, hempseed and fractionated coconut are excellent choices for massage and reflexology. A mixture of 10-15% essential oil and 85-90% carrier oil will ensure a powerful oil that is smooth and great-smelling. Facial skin care is another aspect of aromatherapy where carrier oils shine, bringing health to sun or acne damaged skin. Apricot kernel, rosehip, and hazelnut oils are deeply nourishing in these applications, and rosehip can even be used to treat scars. Dry skin and other bodily skin disorders, such as eczema, can be helped with tamanu, avocado, evening primrose, jojoba, sesame, grapeseed and shea. When choosing your own carriers, experiment with a few and see how your skin responds. Once you find one you love (and there's definitely a carrier oil for everyone) you can begin mixing the carrier with your favorite essential oils.

Mixing carrier oils with volatile oils allows the essential oil to be used more efficiently. Volatile oils have a short lifespan once they hit the air. In about an hour, these oils are no longer active. A carrier oil, with its viscous body, keeps the essential oil vibrant, allowing the essential oils to exhibit their healing qualities longer. A way to remember this is to consider what happens when you put a drop of ylang ylang on your skin. Within an hour the scent is decreased. If you mix the ylang ylang with a carrier, however, the scent, and the oil's medicinal qualities will last much longer. Aromatherapists have found that essential oils are most effective when they are applied on a regular basis, and carrier oils allow us to do so. Because some essential oils may burn the skin, carriers also protect the skin from this potential pitfall.

While carrier oils may not be as awe-inspiring as essential oils, these simple oils do bring healing into the body. The beauty of discovering which carrier oils work best for you is that your essential oils will be extended, your skin will rejoice, and you won't have to say, "Now what do I do with this neroli?"
