If you want to submit a video to one of the burgeoning video sites then please do. But, you could also win a huge prize in the process. Not least of which is fame.YouTube is a popular video site where users can upload all kinds of videos and share them- all for free. The company, owned by Google, recently had a contest to see who could make the best video for 2006- and they are ready to pick a winner.Users will be able to vote on submissions in a few categories, such as ‘most unique’, ‘best comedy’, ‘musician of the year’, and ‘best series’. The winners will be announced on March 25th, and will receive a trophy and a spot on the homepage of YouTube.YouTube has yet to confirm is this is going to be an annual event for the community, but they claim if it goes well it is very likely it will be returning next year. The website attracts about 133 Million users a month, so the competition is pretty steep for anyone looking to go about winning the prize. Most of the categories have the favorite submissions already basically chosen. The Pop band OK Go is expected to win ‘musician of the year’, and user Lonelygirl15 is expected to win with the series “Ask a Ninja”. Even with the odds becoming lower each day of one entering and winning, YouTube claims there is still time to pick a favorite and vote. While it is unlikely new submissions will make the top score board, there is always next year for those who missed out, should YouTube choose to do another round.
