What Are The Functions Of Amino Acids In Living Systems

More than 750 amino acids have been found by scientists. There are two imaginary classes. The amino acids related to the first group can exist absolutely separately; others should be a component of molecules. That can be peptide, esterified construction or even some kinds of proteins. The twenty amino acids which are used in living cells for protein synthesis being controlled by genes are in a unique category since they are basic to all life forms as building substance for peptides and proteins.

In chemistry, an amino acid is a molecule containing both amine and carboxyl functional classes. The basic forms of existence of amino acids are D or L (dextro and levo). Scientists separate all the amino acids except for glyceine as the substances mirror images and all they can not be superimposed.

If we compare the numbers of L-class and D-class amino acids we can find that L-type can be met more frequently. During the experiments it was clarified that L-type amino acids can be the components of eukaryotic proteins and D-amino acids are just he parts of cell walls in proteins.

Amino acids are classified into two classes: essential amino acids and nonessential amino acids. Essential amino acids are also named irreplaceable as they cannot be reproduced by the organism. Such type of amino acid as histidine is a semi-essential as the organism may function without it but that is not useless, of course.

There are two methods of creating of nonessential proteins: they can be made from essential ones or during the process of proteins breakdown.

There are 20 amino acids from the both essential and nonessential classes that are truly irreplaceable for the normal operability sustaining of every organism. Alpha-amino acids are the structural parts of proteins. Peptide bond holds definite amino acid components that are developed during the process of dehydration synthesis together with the water released simultaneously by the same action. The initial frame of the protein is definite by the definite line of amino acid residues created in process mentioned above. The amount of various sequences of the amino acids can not be calculated accurately as there are billions of variants. That may be compared with expressions that are created of letters.

Amino acids are believed to be really important as they control lots of hormonal operations in living organisms.

Even with usage of a great deal of modern technologies the chemists haven’t managed to describe all the amino acid compositions and reveal all their features, but that may be helpful for treatment of a lot of various illnesses. There are a lot of scientists form all over the globe that try to define the main sense of alpha amino acids and to develop the model of their operations inside the organism as that knowledge could save a great deal of lives.
