The Prevention of Heart Disease

By: Tara Smith...

The Coronary Artery Disease is one of the most common types of heart diseases. Many people are concerned about heart disease and stroke, especially if they are struggling with weight control and high blood cholesterol levels. The Coronary Artery Disease can also cause angina and heart attacks. It is one of the main factors causing the heart attack itself.

A patient suffering from the Coronary Artery Disease has arteries which grow both narrow and hard. As a result the heart does not get the required amount of blood. Saturated fats are one of the villains when it comes to the bad fat part of the formula and this type of fat is commonly found in almost all foods. Unsaturated fats are far less harmful. A diet high in fats has been recognized as a primary villain and risk factor in cardiovascular disease.

Dietary habits contribute to obesity as well and have changed greatly over time. Vitamin C deficiency has been related to elevated cholesterol levels and is necessary to maintain adrenal function through the production of hormones such as corticosteroid and aldosterone. While non-fat and low-fat dairy products can play a role in advancing a healthy diet, fatty dairy products can have an adverse effect on the heart, other organs and certain bodily functions over time.

On the one hand there are two types of fats - one of which is good, one of which is bad. It is recognized that approximately 95 percent of the population is deficient in essential fatty acids. Decreasing certain fats is still a good rule of thumb. These fats are saturated fats which are found in animal products, coconut and palm kernel oil. So sticking with lean meats such as poultry and fish, and choosing low fat dairy products is still a good choice.

Excessive cholesterol can cause buildup of atherosclerotic plaque. Accumulation of plaque in arteries can block blood flow and lead to a heart attack. The second fat to decrease is Trans Fats which are found in many packaged convenience foods including certain margarines, crackers, and chips. Trans Fats are now located on the nutrition label under "Fats".

The diseases and conditions that affect the heart are in a group known as heart disease. People suffering from diabetes have a higher chance of having heart disease. There is high level of blood sugar or the blood glucose itself in diabetes patients. Cardiomyopathy is yet another form of heart disease which impairs the heart's function. Cardiomyopathy form of heart disease often damages and weakens the heart.

Reduce the amount of red meat in your diet. Red meat is high in artery-clogging saturated fat. It is best to stick to a red meat free diet which includes healthier protein options like chicken, fish, egg whites, tofu and beans. Cholesterol can turn bad in your blood if you have a very poor diet and this causes the formation of plaques in the walls of the blood vessels leading to heart problems and bypass surgery in some cases. Its the build up of LDL cholesterol as mentioned above.

You hear many terms like coronary heart disease , atherosclerosis or some other term and are left wondering as to what exactly all these terms mean. Medical information could confuse you. Triglyceride is simpler when mentioned as fat in your body. It is essential that you read and stay informed on some basic terminology. You could watch a few programs related to the heart and its working before going to your doctor.

On the consultation of a physician, the physician decides whether the insulin or the pills need to be taken. The physician could also provide a timetable for the food and the exercises. Many of the medicines used to treat high blood pressure, such as beta-blockers, thiazide diuretics and clonidine, can also contribute to erectile dysfunction. I have experienced, nights without sleep, pains that come and go and depression that I have to rebuke.
