Life is moving at such a rapid pace. Gone are the days of families living together. Broken families now almost outnumber the united ones. Christian groups are no exception. The result of a faster life, maybe the feminist influence, higher divorces all have resulted in a situation where the paternal influence is almost vanishing. Why are you as the father so important? It is you, the father, who has been tasked by God to bring up your children. A home without the father will have kids who will lack confidence and will not be able to do well either in school or life in general. Such children are likely to become anti-social and outcasts. Who is a mentor? A mentor is a guide, a leader trusted by all and one to whom all owe their loyalty. He is a father figure, a person who is mature and wise. Start with your family. Spend more time with the family members. Eat at least one meal together. That meal all should know what is happening to the other and share both joy and sadness. True Christian Groups will have you, the father leading from up front, by example. Your kids are watching and absorbing all the time. You as their mentor should love them. Don’t be afraid to show affection. Hug them. Have respect for your wife. Your children will grow up with similar values for their spouses. But, you must discipline them as well. Disciplining is one of your essential roles. Children have to be shown their boundaries, their limits in which they have to perform. Do this with love, with the intention of guiding them.
