With a 1-1 tie against Getafe this past week, FC Barcelona has achieved 17 in a row undefeated games between La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League; the team has not lost since the second match of the league season, while Getafe F.C. is still average, but full of surprises. With a 29 point lead on the table, Barça still has a good advantage against Real Madrid, who is 3 points below them; while Villarreal is 4. They have played like no one else this season and no matter who the rivals may be, they defeat anyone using the same technique. The team has dominated every single game, attacking nonstop the entire 90 minutes; they produce chances that end up with goals. The Getafe FC is an average team and honestly it was hard to consider that they could keep the mid-table position after scoring only one goal in the last five matches (before this game), which resulted in Copa del Rey exclusion and two Primera defeats and a draw. The team has been close to the relegation zone and many believed that the game against Barcelona FC was going to be another failure for the Dark Blues. Striker Manu Del Moral, from Getafe, left Barça wondering of a possible defeat, when at minute 19 opened the score from the penalty area. Del Moral took his time, did not hit the ball hard and instead he sent it slowly straight to the right side of the net, passing netkeeper Victor Valdes and into the net. The Barcelona has great players and there is no doubt about it, but Bojan Krkic could not find pace during the match, which affected Xavi Hernandez along the right flank and the midfield. The team was deficient on infiltration, which lead many to think that Lionel Messi was definitely needed during the match (out for injury). Messi was watching from the bench, as his team kept missing shot after shot; even Samuel Eto'o at 39th attempted a strike at long range, but the Argentinean goalie Roberto Abbondanzieri performed amazingly, stopping incredible shots many times. Coach Pep Guardiola took Bojan Krkic out and even tough Thierry Henry was supposed to rest for this game, he was in by 56th. Getafe kept pushing forward and in the middle of the second half a shot slide and bounced through Valdes’ hands; that play left everyone at Camp Nou breathless and thinking a 2-0 was unrealistic. Barça’s Malian midfielder Seydou Keita has been aiming high these past matches and just 1 week ago he scored first time ever with Barcelona on a 2-0 victory against Recreativo de Huelva. Coach Guardiola was aware of Kieta’s hunger for strike and that’s why he was given a starter position on the match. At 71’, Daniel Alves came pushing to the right side and crossed a pass to the far post, Keita gave Getafe’s goalkeeper Abbondanzieri no chance, as he jumped to head the ball inside the left post. The 1-1 seemed imminent within minutes to conclude the match and even though Barça's Gerard Pique came close to scoring at minute 80, Abbondanzieri did not allow the dive, saving the team and finishing the match with a respectable 1-1 against the current best team on the Spanish League, the Barcelona FC.
